“As the story evolved, it became clear that the father/daughter relationship is the foundation of the film. Because of that, they asked me to animate Fa Zhou as well. They knew that the sequences in which Mulan and her dad are together are the building block for what happens in the rest of the story. This must be a very real relationship.
